"Grit Physical Therapy has given me the ability to keep up with Life. As my active lifestyle has changed over the years, they've made it possible to not only adapt but to get stronger. I have always suffered from a very limited range of motion but through Grit's programming I have been able to impact those limitations. In my 40's I am still able to keep up with the demands of a High Intensity work out and complete Endurance Sports like Spartan Races, Triathlons and 50+ mile bike tours. Physical Therapy is not just for rehabilitation, it's a way of life."

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about cash-based physical therapy? We've got answers.

Do you accept insurance?

Grit Physical Therapy is a cash-based practice, which means we do not bill insurance directly. This allows us to provide longer, one-on-one sessions without insurance restrictions dictating your care. We can provide you with a superbill (detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many of our patients find that the quality of care and personalized attention they receive is well worth the investment in their health and performance.

How long are the sessions?

Every session at Grit Physical Therapy is a full 60 minutes of one-on-one time with Dr. Cecilia Wong. No techs, no aides, and no double-booking. You'll receive hands-on manual therapy, customized exercise programming, and education throughout your entire appointment. This focused approach means faster progress and better outcomes compared to traditional PT clinics where you might only see a therapist for 10-15 minutes.

What should I expect at my first visit?

Your first visit begins with a comprehensive evaluation where we'll discuss your injury history, current symptoms, and goals. Dr. Wong will perform a thorough movement assessment to identify the root cause of your pain or dysfunction. We'll start treatment on day one—combining manual therapy, targeted exercises, and education. You'll leave with a clear understanding of what's going on and a personalized plan to get you back to your activities. Most sessions also include "homework" exercises you can do between visits to accelerate your recovery.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies based on your specific condition, goals, and how your body responds to treatment. Some patients feel significant improvement in 4-6 sessions, while others with chronic or complex issues may benefit from ongoing care. During your evaluation, Dr. Wong will give you an honest estimate based on your situation. Our goal is always to equip you with the tools and knowledge to manage your body independently—not to keep you coming back indefinitely.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No referral is needed! Texas is a direct access state, which means you can see a physical therapist without a physician's referral. You're free to schedule directly with us and start your recovery right away. If your condition requires further medical evaluation or imaging, we'll coordinate with your physician as needed.

What makes Grit Physical Therapy different from other PT clinics?

At Grit PT, you're not just another appointment on a packed schedule. Dr. Cecilia Wong is an athlete herself—she understands the demands of CrossFit, running, triathlons, and high-intensity training. Our approach is performance-based, education-focused, and tailored to active adults who want more than cookie-cutter care. We spend real time with you, treat the root cause of your pain, and equip you to move better for life. Plus, being located inside Strength Society means we understand the connection between rehab and functional fitness better than anyone.
