"Went to Grit PT with nagging knee pain and an uneasy feeling about playing in a local basketball league. I had been nursing a knee injury for over 4 years and lost a lot of strength. Grit pinpointed my issues, created a regimen to safely and slowly build my strength back up, and applied recovery techniques to heal the affected areas, all in a clean and comfortable environment. I was also given personalized resources and guides to continue my workouts at home. I am now confidently running and jumping like I did in years prior and having fun playing my favorite sport! All thanks to the time and attention of Grit PT!"
Our 3-Step Process to Get You Back to What You Love
-
Step 1: Calm the Pain
First, we identify the root causes of your back pain and what's contributing to your movement dysfunction. We listen to your story, assess your movement patterns, and pinpoint exactly where things went wrong.
-

What Our Patients Are Saying
Rated 5.0 stars with 14 Google reviews
"As someone training for a marathon and active in CrossFit, I wanted a PT who truly understood the demands of both. Dr. Cecilia Wong at Grit Physical Therapy was the perfect fit. With her background in running and CrossFit, our initial consultation felt like a conversation with someone who genuinely gets it. She helped me identify potential causes of my issues and set the stage for a solid recovery plan."
"Cecilia is one of the best PT's I've ever been to. I came to her with persistent and intense neck and shoulder pain/tightness and she knew exactly what muscles/areas of my body to target. I left feeling 1000x better than what I was when I arrived and I could not be more grateful to have found someone who treats me the way I need. Her services are worth every $ and I would highly recommend!"
"I had my first session with Grit today and Cecilia is very good at what she does. I came in mainly for a running analysis and to see if we could identify what was causing my knee pain while running. She was very thorough and the visit was educational which I appreciated. She took several videos in addition to my running analysis so it was good to see what was going on and the suggestions she made were very tailored to me which I appreciate."

Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions about back pain physical therapy at Grit PT? We've got answers. If you don't see what you're looking for, reach out—we're here to help.
Do you accept insurance?
Grit Physical Therapy operates on a cash-based model, which means we do not bill insurance directly. While this might sound different from traditional PT clinics, it comes with major benefits: longer, uninterrupted sessions (60 minutes), one-on-one care without rushing, and treatment plans designed around your goals—not insurance restrictions. Many clients find that the quality and outcomes far exceed what they experienced with insurance-based care. We're happy to provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.
How long are sessions?
Every session at Grit Physical Therapy is 60 minutes of one-on-one time with Dr. Cecilia Wong. Unlike traditional clinics where you might share your therapist's time with multiple patients, you'll receive focused, individualized care from start to finish. This allows us to thoroughly address your back pain, answer your questions, and make meaningful progress in every session.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Come ready to move! Wear comfortable, athletic clothing that allows us to assess your movement patterns (shorts or athletic pants and a t-shirt work great). Bring any relevant medical records, imaging results, or previous PT notes if you have them. Most importantly, bring your questions and goals—we want to understand what matters most to you so we can create a personalized plan.
What types of conditions do you treat?
We specialize in helping athletes and active adults overcome back pain, sports injuries, and movement dysfunction. Common conditions we treat include chronic lower back pain, sciatica, running-related injuries, CrossFit and weightlifting injuries, post-surgical rehab, neck and shoulder pain, and biomechanical imbalances. If you're an active individual dealing with pain or performance limitations, we're here to help.
How many sessions will I need?
Every person and every injury is different, so there's no one-size-fits-all answer. During your initial consultation, we'll assess your condition, discuss your goals, and provide a realistic timeline for recovery. Some clients see significant improvement in just a few sessions, while others with chronic or complex conditions may benefit from ongoing care. Our goal is to equip you with the tools and knowledge to manage your recovery independently—not keep you coming back indefinitely.
What makes Grit PT different from traditional physical therapy?
At Grit PT, you're not just another patient in a crowded clinic. We provide one-on-one, cash-based care that prioritizes quality over quantity. You'll receive 60 minutes of focused attention, advanced manual therapy and dry needling, education-driven treatment so you understand your body, and personalized plans designed around your athletic goals—not insurance limitations. We bridge the gap between rehab and performance, helping you not just recover, but come back stronger.
